Dog In The Dunes · Revisited By Barbara E. Cohen

Price: $18.95. COLLECTIBLE LIMITED EDITION - SIGNED & NUMBERED BY THE ARTIST, 8" x 8", 48 pages, hard cover.

North Truro, Cape Cod, MA July 7, 2005 Fields Publishing today announces their release of "Dog in the Dunes · Revisited" a captivating series of mixed-media painted Polaroid portraits of the antics of 11-year-old black Labrador retriever, Gabe, by artist Barbara E. Cohen. By popular demand, the book is a new, updated version of Barbara's original "Dog in the Dunes" and a striking collection of fine-art images, printed by Fields Publishing. Barbara spent a two-week artist's residency in the fall of 1996 on Cape Cod National Seashore. While she intended to continue work in a series of abstract paintings, all of that changed when Gabe followed every step while she unloaded supplies, cleaned the shack and walked the beach. leaf

She was captivated, like every dog lover's soul, by her aging fuzzy companion. The days became precious and the bond they shared deepened. "Sharing the isolated time and space with Gabe took me home to what I believe to be important is simplicity," Barbara explains. In "Dog in the Dunes · Revisited" Barbara captures the love between a woman and her dog in the natural light, warm turquoise-blue skies, sea-grass greens and sand-pebble yellows of Cape Cod's unique setting. Painting Gabe around the beach shack and on the dunes " brought me closer to the smells and sounds and vistas of the dunes," she adds.

"Dog in the Dunes · Revisited" is part of a new direction for Fields Publishing, namely a collection of pet books to be released in the future. Photographer Charles Fields' work includes various titles. Praise for a cornucopia of photographic work, reviewers explain: "Beyond his technical proficiency, it is  Fields' contagious excitement and passion for his subjects that are so elegantly translated" through his photography from "Provincetown  and the National Seashore" foreword by Patricia Fitzpatrick.
