"Anne Packard" wins the
"Best Art Book" category in the 23rd Benjamin Franklin Awards from PMA,
the Independent Book Publishers Association in Recognition of
Excellence in Independent Publishing. Here's what the judges had to say:
"Anne Packard is a breathtaking volume of artwork. It has been designed with such
care and attention to detail. The size is amazing - I have nearly dropped it a couple
of times because its weight and slick cover make it slippery - and yet it struck me
that for this art it is the perfect size. Nothing else would do it justice. The
pictures are beautiful, but they are enhanced even more by the incredibly generous
use of white space. The short, simple descriptions of the images make them seen as
if both the words and the images are floating in air, connected but not connected.
The same quality of care can also be seen in the necessary, but often ignored title
and copyright pages. This is an exquisite volume, one of the absolute best submitted
in this category this year."Charles Fields Publishing announces the publication of Himalayan Portfolios - Journeys of the Imagination by Kenneth Hanson. Hanson's photography and essay transport us directly to the valleys, glaciers and high passes

Fields Publishing announces the publication of Sam Feinstein, a retrospective, limited edition art book that captures the life work of artist Sam Feinstein. Sam Feinstein has been called the least commercial artist I have ever known by the art historian Irving Sandler, who first met Feinstein years earlier in the 1950s. This book offers a glimpse into the art, life, philosophy and teachings of a man who painted for over seventy years, the last forty in self-chosen obscurity while he explored the infinite potential of the visual language and continually refined color-forms in his dynamically expressive compositions. His students called him an embodiment of hope, a shining light,an utterly genuine and unique individual, an outstanding teacher and painter whose integrity in art was uncompromising. One student wrote, He gave me one of the greatest gifts I'll ever receive: painting as a deep spiritual practice.
